Thailand ramps up preparations to host 14th ASEAN Rural Development and Poverty Eradication meeting

Officials meet to finalize logistics and protocol for Thailand’s hosting of the 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication in Bangkok.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Interior is accelerating preparations for Thailand’s hosting of the 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (AMRDPE), with officials instructed to accelerate protocol and logistical arrangements to ensure the event meets international standards.

Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry Ansit Samphantharat.assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary Chotinarin Kerdsom to chair a meeting of the Subcommittee responsible for organizing the 14th AMRDPE and its related sessions. The meeting brought together senior officials and representatives from security, foreign affairs, transportation, and other relevant agencies.


The Deputy Permanent Secretary emphasized that Thailand’s selection as host underscores the country’s prominent role in advancing rural development and poverty reduction within ASEAN. He stressed the need for all participating agencies to ensure thorough, systematic, and standards-based preparations that reflect Thailand’s capacity to lead regional development efforts.

The meeting reviewed progress across multiple components of the upcoming event, including the Ministerial Meeting (AMRDPE), the Senior Officials Meeting (SOMRDPE), the ASEAN Village Network (AVN) Meeting, and the ASEAN PPPP Forum, which engages government, private-sector, and civil-society stakeholders. Preparations for Liaison Officer training were also examined, alongside arrangements for protocol consultations with foreign embassies scheduled for December 2, 2025.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary reiterated the importance of timely execution of assigned duties and active participation in protocol rehearsals. He noted that these exercises will test the readiness of personnel, venues, support systems, and security measures, all of which are critical to demonstrating Thailand’s capability in hosting high-level international gatherings. He added that the ministry is confident the meeting will be conducted professionally and will yield concrete policy outcomes that benefit communities across the ASEAN region.

The 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication is scheduled to take place from December 9-21, 2025, at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. (NNT)
