BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Zaram has instructed the Land Bank Administration Institute to step up efforts to expand land access for poor and disadvantaged farmers, calling for updated and detailed reporting on current land distribution and project outcomes.
The directive was issued during a meeting held at Government House on November 10. In attendance were Pol Gen Chalermkiat Sriworakan, Chair of the Land Bank Board, and Kulaphat Poomjaioud, the Land Bank’s Director. Executives presented a review of the institute’s operations from 2016 to 2025, which showed that 7,256 rai of land had been allocated to assist 1,816 low-income farming households.
Sophon also asked the leadership team to compile updated data on all active projects, including the identity of current landholders and the status of land use, to ensure transparency and proper oversight. A complete report is expected at the next board meeting on November 12.
The Land Bank Administration Institute has affirmed it is now working to promote fair land ownership and secure long-term access to farmland for economically vulnerable communities. (NNT)
