Health Minister Phatthana Phromphat addresses concerns over herbal inhaler inspections, reaffirming that the checks were carried out transparently to protect consumers and uphold safety standards.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Public Health Ministry (MoPH) on Monday denied claims of unfairly targeting herbal inhaler producers, confirming its inspections were transparent and for consumer safety.

Health Minister Phatthana Phromphat stated the checks were not a tactic by competitors to damage business.

The clarification followed inspections where the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found three brands, including Hong Thai, exceeded microbial limits. The FDA confirmed seizing over 2 million pieces from unlicensed facilities. Corrected batches that pass re-inspection can be returned to the market.

Hong Thai Herbs Co., Ltd. owner, Mr. Theeraphong Rabuetham, publicly accepted the findings, apologised, and committed to a complete overhaul of production.

He announced a partnership with a pharmacy team from Mahidol University to oversee all manufacturing steps to ensure they meet required standards. (TNA)
