Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul leads Thailand’s first Economic Cabinet meeting, unveiling the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” program for merchants. While focusing on measures to ease citizens’ hardships, the PM declined to comment on international pressure over Cambodian scam operations.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul attended the first Economic Cabinet meeting, joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn.

The Prime Minister said the meeting would review the economic situation for the final quarter of the year and discuss short- and medium-term measures, noting that long-term plans were unnecessary as the government has only four months in office. The focus is on addressing citizens’ immediate hardships, while detailed questions should be directed to Finance Minister Ekniti.

Today also marked the launch of the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” (Half-Half Plus) program for merchants. Prime Minister Anutin highlighted the initiative by having Finance Minister Ekniti reveal a white T-shirt with the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” logo under his suit, saying, “Let the picture tell the story,” and laughed.

Regarding South Korea sending officials to Cambodia to assist its citizens, the Prime Minister responded with a smile, “We have responsible authorities in place.”

When asked about opposition MP Rangsiman Rome’s Facebook post seeking the Prime Minister, Anutin did not respond and left the interview. Reporters also questioned Thailand’s stance as South Korea and the U.S. pressure Cambodia to crack down on scammers, but the Prime Minister did not answer. (TNA)
