Tourists flock to Chiang Mai mountains to welcome winter with cold breezes and sea of mist

CHIANG MAI, Thailand – Tourists are beginning to flock to Chiang Mai’s mountain parks to enjoy cooler weather and scenic views as the rainy season transitions into winter. At Doi Inthanon National Park in Chom Thong District, visitors experienced temperatures as low as 10°C while watching the sunrise and enjoying the crisp morning air. Nearby at Kew Mae Pan, the thermometer registered a minimum of 11°C.

Meanwhile, at the Doi Pui campsite in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, close to Chiang Mai city, tourists crowded the camping grounds to spend the night under the stars and wake up to breathtaking views of the morning sun and the sea of mist stretching over Chiang Mai and Mae Rim District. Temperatures here dipped below 20°C, providing a refreshing retreat for nature lovers.

The Doi Pui campsite, open since October 1, is divided into five zones accommodating up to 100 tents and 300 visitors per day. Facilities include food stalls, shops, and a coffee corner for visitors’ convenience. Located just 30 kilometers from Chiang Mai city—about an hour’s drive—the site is ideal for those seeking a nature getaway without a long journey.
