Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree says construction will focus on sensitive, clearly demarcated border zones, with barrier type still under consideration.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Army plans to build fences along the Thai-Cambodian border, prioritizing areas prone to illegal crossings and security threats. Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree addressed the move while noting the success of a border fund, which has now surpassed 100 million baht in public contributions.

Maj. Gen. Winthai stated construction would focus first on clearly demarcated areas, specifically targeting sensitive spots to counter illegal activity. He added that the final type of barrier—whether permanent or electronic—is still under consideration, while construction in unclear boundary zones must await formal agreements via the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).
