Troops on high alert as cultural and volunteer programs are launched to boost morale in border communities of Surin and Sisaket.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The 2nd Army Area Operations Center reported increased activity along the Thai–Cambodian border on September 19, including multiple drone flights by Cambodian forces. Twelve drones were detected near the Preah Vihear–Don Tual sector, fifteen near Ta Kwai Temple, and one in the Chong Sai Taku sector. Both sides remain stationed in their defensive positions, with Thai troops maintaining observation posts and a state of readiness.

Alongside security operations, the military supported volunteer activities to sustain morale among troops and border communities. In Surin province, the Royal Volunteer Center of the 25th Military Circle received donations of consumer goods and essential supplies from the Mit Pracha 01 Minburi group, delivered for distribution to soldiers stationed at the 21st Border Patrol Police Command.

In Sisaket province, the Royal Volunteer Center organized a program called “Culture Revives the Heart—Strengthening the Spirit of Border Communities, Fiscal Year 2025.” The event, led by Deputy Governor Chonmanat Rodboontham, featured Buddhist chanting and a Bai Sri Su Kwan ceremony to boost the morale of residents living near the border. Provincial cultural officials, district authorities, educators, military and police officers, community leaders, students, and residents attended the gathering.

Officials described the ceremony as an expression of cultural tradition and unity, helping uplift those affected by ongoing tensions at the border while reinforcing support from civil and military agencies.

The 2nd Army Area advised the public to avoid misinformation and rely solely on official updates from government agencies, stressing the importance of accurate and timely communication during the current situation. (NNT)
