BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showcased Thai culture and wellness tourism on September 13–14 through a program that invited ambassadors from six countries to experience local traditions in Ratchaburi province. Led by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the project, titled “Travel Thailand with Diplomats: 5 Must Do—Happiness in Every Journey,” has been developed to promote Thailand’s image through cultural diplomacy.
Ambassadors from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Malta, Guatemala, and South Korea joined activities highlighting wellness, heritage, and community lifestyles. Their visit began with a Thai herbal spa at ThaiZone Spa, a Thai and international lunch, and workshops at Baan Kaew Samunphrai, where they learned about traditional medicine. The day concluded with an overnight stay at Phapok Eco Resort, an eco-friendly boutique property in Suan Phueng district.
On the second day, the group toured Oh Poi Market, a riverside marketplace run by the Karen community, where they joined local rituals and sampled regional delicacies. They later enjoyed lunch at Ong Khao Ong Nam Restaurant, featuring dishes such as Nam Phrik Long Ruea and stir-fried kale with black tofu. The program closed with a visit to the Ratchaburi Jar Learning Center, which included a hands-on jar molding workshop.
TAT said the program was built around the “5 Must Do in Thailand” concept, including Must See, Must Eat, Must Seek, Must Buy, and Must Try. Each stop was chosen to highlight Thai cultural richness through food, wellness, craftsmanship, and local traditions. (NNT)
