BANGKOK, Thailand – Saroj Phunrampan, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has officially submitted his resignation from government service on 15 September. The reasons behind his sudden departure remain unknown, and he has not responded to calls for comment.

Saroj assumed the role of NACC secretary on 1 October 2024, with his term originally set to end on 1 October 2026. In April 2025, he applied to join the Comptroller General’s Department (Audit Committee) or other positions related to public finance oversight.

Attempts to reach NACC officials for clarification were unsuccessful, with staff indicating they were surprised by the news and had no prior knowledge of his resignation. Saroj himself has remained unreachable and offered no explanation for his decision.
