BANGKOK, Thailand – A fire broke out shortly after midnight on Saturday at Phahurat Market, a well-known textile and accessories hub near China World Hotel in Phra Nakhon district. Firefighters evacuated residents and brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes.
The fire started on the first floor of a three-story building, which houses clothing and jewelry shops. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the second floor as officials rushed to ensure all residents were safely evacuated.
Authorities confirmed the cause was an electrical short circuit from an extension plug. The blaze damaged about 24 square meters of property. No injuries or fatalities were reported. (TNA)
