BANGKOK, Thailand – The Embassy of Peru in Bangkok is inviting the public to participate in “Torito de Pucará: Peru and Thailand United by Art,” a cultural project commemorating 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. As part of the program, participants have a chance to win one of two round-trip tickets to Peru by completing a citywide art-themed challenge.
Participants must visit all six Torito de Pucará sculptures currently on display at key Bangkok locations, take a photo or video with each one, and post them on social media in accordance with the contest rules. Those who complete the whole circuit will qualify for a raffle. Two winners will be selected, with at least one required to be of Thai nationality. Both must be residents of Thailand.
The sculptures are located at ICONSIAM (3rd Floor), Siam Discovery (G Floor), Wat Pho (near the Bell Tower), Songwat Road (Mahapho Riverview), One Bangkok (G Floor, Parade), and MRT Phahon Yothin (Metro Art, Exit 5). The contest runs through November 5, 2025, with winners announced on November 7 via the embassy’s official social media platforms. Prizes will be awarded during a ceremony on November 10, held in celebration of the diplomatic anniversary.
The Torito de Pucará is a traditional ceramic figure from southern Peru, widely recognized for its symbolism of protection, good fortune, and cultural identity. For this project, six artists—Nakrob Moonmanas, Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch, Diego Cornejo (Seimiek), Chira Chirapravati Na Ayudhaya, Somnuek Klangnok, and Prof. Sukumarl Sarakasetrin—have reimagined the pieces with their own creative interpretations.
