Second Army Area confirms over 30 drones spotted along the border and reaffirms Thailand’s sovereignty over the ancient temple.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Army has reported further ceasefire violations by Cambodia, including continued drone surveillance and disinformation regarding control of the Prasat Ta Muen Thom temple area. Cambodia has also reportedly cancelled its daily press briefings on the border situation.

A situation update from the Second Army Area command on the afternoon of September 2nd detailed ongoing drone activity along the border. It reported eight drones in the Chong Arn Ma area, 23 drones across the Sattasom, Phu Phi, and Don Tuan areas, and one drone at Sai Taku. The report also confirmed that both sides continue to have forces deployed along the border.

The army also addressed Cambodian disinformation regarding Prasat Ta Muen Thom. Following the release of images showing battle damage to the temple, some Cambodian citizens reportedly expressed confusion online, as they had been led to believe the site was under Cambodian control. In response, the Commander of the 2nd Army Area, Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, stated that anyone wishing to visit the temple must use a visa and passport, reinforcing Thailand’s sovereignty over the site.

In a related development, the Royal Thai Army reported that Cambodia has cancelled its daily press briefings on the border situation, effective September 2nd, stating that the government spokesperson will only provide information when deemed necessary. (NNT)
