BANGKOK, Thailand – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the 27th Saijaithai Handicraft Fair, held from August 11 to 17 at Siam Paragon, Bangkok.
The Saijaithai Foundation Under the Royal Patronage was established in 1975 under the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to provide support for disabled military veterans, police officers, and volunteers, as well as their families. Over the past five decades, the Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life of its members while preserving Thailand’s cultural heritage.
This year’s fair, celebrating the Foundation’s 50th anniversary, features a wide selection of handicrafts created by its members, including newly designed silk patterns, commemorative “50 Years of Saijaithai” souvenirs, leather goods, hand-painted vases, multi-purpose textiles, glass-etched products, and hand-painted wood and ceramic pieces.
Visitors can enjoy the “Saijaithai Kitchen,” serving regional delicacies, along with daily musical performances that showcase the skills of the Foundation’s members and promote public support for their sustainable livelihoods.
The public is invited to attend and celebrate the royal vision that supports veterans and preserves traditional Thai craftsmanship, with free admission daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
