BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok has been ranked Asia’s most popular city for 2025 by global travel platform Agoda, based on the highest number of tourists who expressed a desire to return. Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Watthanachan said the Thai capital topped the survey ahead of other regional destinations, with Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Hat Yai also making the list for their varied attractions and appeal to different types of travelers.

Sasikarn credited Bangkok’s appeal to its vibrant atmosphere, diverse cuisine, renowned cultural landmarks such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, convenient transportation, and the warm hospitality of its residents. She also noted that the city holds a “Level 1 – Exercise Normal Precautions” rating from the U.S. Department of State, the highest safety tier in its June 9, 2025, Travel Advisory.

To capitalize on this momentum, the government is running the “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2025” through the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The campaign, which runs from July 1 to August 15, works with private-sector partners nationwide to drive foreign spending and increase tourism revenue, with a focus on markets in India, China, Malaysia, Laos, and Vietnam.

The program offers nationwide discounts on accommodations, tour packages, and shopping, while also promoting newer tourism segments such as wellness travel, music festivals, sporting events, and international-scale activities designed to create memorable experiences for visitors.

Sasikarn said Thailand remains ready to welcome travelers as a safe, world-class destination with strong service standards and distinctive attractions. The government plans to continue strengthening tourism to support steady, long-term growth. (NNT)
