PATTAYA, Thailand – The Widows Sons, a worldwide Masonic motorcycle association, recently celebrated a milestone event in Pattaya, drawing members from across the globe to mark a significant moment in their fraternal journey. Known for combining a passion for riding with charitable work, the group held their Branding Ceremony for the Widows Sons Thailand Chapter on August 2 at the Hop House by Lake Mabprachan.

The Branding Ceremony, a deeply meaningful tradition within the Widows Sons, represents the final step in becoming a fully branded member. This rite of passage has special significance in chapters around the world, including the Scotland chapter where the practice began in 2014 and has since grown in importance. The Pattaya event welcomed riders from the Philippines, Canada, and the United States, reinforcing the international brotherhood that the club embodies.

Before the evening ceremony, the Widows Sons extended their commitment beyond the road by visiting the Take Care Kids foster home. There, they presented a generous donation of 30,000 THB toward the construction of a new boys’ wing, set to begin in the near future. The Philippines chapter contributed an additional 15,000 THB, with other members adding to bring the total donation to 50,000 THB. The foster children enjoyed a meal of chicken nuggets, chips, and soft drinks, reflecting the spirit of community and goodwill central to the Widows Sons’ mission.

Founded as a Masonic association of motorcycle enthusiasts, the Widows Sons’ membership is exclusively made up of Master Masons in good standing at regular lodges recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). Members must also hold a valid motorcycle license and actively ride, though the group is not limited to any specific motorcycle brand. Rather than a traditional motorcycle club, the Widows Sons identify as a social riding association that shares a love of motorcycling and supports charitable causes worldwide.

Paul Carnell presents donations totaling THB 50,000 to President Jimmy T. C. Purvey on behalf of the youngsters from the Take Care Kids foster home, supporting the construction of a new boys’ wing.

The organization’s name draws inspiration from Masonic tradition but is not meant to intimidate or assert territorial claims. Members are expected to conduct themselves responsibly, upholding the values of the association, the Masonic fraternity, and the broader motorcycling community. Respect for other clubs and riders is paramount, as is the recognition that many groups paved the way for the freedoms they enjoy today. The Widows Sons include members from diverse backgrounds, including veterans of the armed forces, united by fraternity and a shared passion for riding.

Congratulations were extended to President Jimmy T C Purvey and the Widows Sons Thailand chapter for hosting a memorable and meaningful event. Appreciation was also given to Paul Carnell and the staff at the Hop House for their warm hospitality.
