BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is working to enhance its international communication strategy through a new media cooperation framework with Russia’s TASS News Agency.
During the Thai Festival in Moscow 2025, PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem met with Marat Abulkhatin, Deputy Director General of TASS, to discuss the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on media and information cooperation. The agreement—expected to be finalized by the end of this year—will promote exchange in news content, multimedia production, media archives, and personnel development, especially in the field of technology and visual communication.
TASS, Russia’s oldest and largest news agency, expressed strong interest in serving as a key media hub to deliver accurate news about Thailand to Russian audiences and welcomed official clarifications from Thailand in cases of misinformation.
TASS executives have also confirmed their participation in the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), which Thailand will host in Phuket from 19–21 August 2025.
The PRD reaffirmed its adoption of a policy put forward by Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai to expand global media engagement. The strategy focuses on countering disinformation and communicating accurate facts—particularly on the Thai–Cambodian border situation—through strengthened partnerships with key international media networks including USAGM (USA), BBC (UK), Xinhua, CMG, and People’s Daily (China).
