Royal Thai Army reports mortar and small arms fire from Cambodian troops on July 29–30, calling it a breach of ceasefire terms; warns of decisive action if provocations persist.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Army has issued a formal statement detailing what it describes as serious violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Cambodian Armed Forces on July 29th and 30th, 2025.

The Army confirmed that Thailand has strictly adhered to the ceasefire, which took effect at midnight on July 28th, by suspending all military force to foster an atmosphere of peace and trust. However, the statement outlines three separate incidents where Cambodian forces allegedly broke the terms of the agreement.

The first violation reportedly occurred in the Chong Kanma area of Sisaket Province at 9:30 PM on July 29th, when Cambodian troops fired small arms at Thai positions, resulting in a clash that ended at 10:00 PM.

A second incident began at 10:00 PM the same evening near Preah Vihear, in the vicinity of Phu Makheua and Huai Thamariya. Cambodian forces allegedly engaged in continuous small arms fire and used mortars, compelling Thai units to retaliate in self-defense. The firing continued intermittently into the morning of July 30th.

The third incident was recorded at 5:17 AM on July 30th, when mortar fire from Cambodia was detected landing inside Thai territory in the Pha Mo E-Daeng area.

The Royal Thai Army strongly condemns these actions, stating they are a serious violation of the agreement, disrespect international obligations, and undermine efforts for a peaceful resolution. While affirming its commitment to restraint and peace, the Army declared it will take decisive measures to protect Thai sovereignty and citizens if the violations continue. (NNT)
