
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government has approved a financial assistance package for victims of the ongoing border conflict, providing one million baht to the families of those who have lost their lives.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Wattanachan announced the decision following a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Office’s Fund for Disaster Victims Committee. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, concluded with the committee’s approval of compensation measures for those affected by the situation.
The aid package offers one million baht to cover funeral expenses in the event of a fatality. For those who have sustained injuries, the compensation varies according to the severity: individuals with permanent disabilities will receive 700,000 baht; those with critical injuries will be granted 200,000 baht; severe injuries will be compensated at 100,000 baht; and individuals with minor injuries will receive 50,000 baht.
Sasikarn expressed the government’s deepest regret over the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting those affected. Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has assigned ministers to visit the impacted provinces and oversee relief efforts. Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai will visit Surin, Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong will travel to Sisaket, and Deputy Interior Minister Theerarat Samrejvanich will visit Ubon Ratchathani.
