TRANG, Thailand – Two local men in Trang got the shock of their lives after stumbling upon a giant king cobra while cutting grass in an oil palm plantation, prompting an urgent call to local rescue teams.

Pasakorn Keerirak, 26, and Phanuwat Muangsut, 21, were working in Moo 6, Thung Krabue Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khao District, when they spotted what they initially thought was a small cobra tail. Upon closer inspection—and with assistance from rescue personnel—they discovered it was, in fact, one of the largest king cobras ever reported in the province.

Veteran snake handler Supat Eadchata, widely known as “Benz Asoraphit” from the Sawang Yan Ta Khao Rescue Foundation, responded with his team. After an hour-long search in the dense vegetation, they successfully located and captured the enormous reptile.

Measuring 5 meters in length and weighing over 30 kilograms, the king cobra is believed to be the largest ever caught in Trang. Supat noted that he had never encountered a king cobra of this size throughout his career and called it “a true monster.”

The discovery has caused unease among local residents, many of whom had never seen a snake of such scale in the area. The rescued king cobra was safely relocated to prevent further alarm or danger.

“At first, we thought it was just a normal cobra,” said Pasakorn. “But when the rescue team pulled it out, we were stunned. We’ve never seen anything like it—it gave us chills.”

“We thought it was a normal cobra at first — but when it came out, it gave us goosebumps,” said one of the shocked workers.
