Pattaya to close key roads early morning July 19–20 as city prepares for 32nd annual marathon event.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Deputy Mayor Krissana Boonsawat chaired a key coordination meeting on traffic and medical preparedness for the upcoming 32nd Pattaya Marathon, to be held July 19–20. The session, held at Pattaya City Hall’s Thappraya meeting room, brought together representatives from relevant agencies.

Organized by Pattaya City in collaboration with Chonburi Province and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), this year’s marathon has once again earned the World Athletics Road Race Label and is listed on the official World Athletics calendar — reinforcing its status as a globally recognized race.

The event aims to promote sports tourism, positioning Pattaya as a premier Sports Hub Destination in Southeast Asia, while also stimulating the local economy. Organizers expect over 50,000 participants and spectators, including 20,250 runners and more than 33,000 supporters, both Thai and international.

Officials urge public to avoid race routes and follow real-time traffic updates for smooth travel.

To ensure a smooth and safe race, the city is requesting support from all involved agencies — particularly regarding traffic control, medical services, and public communication. Authorities confirmed that full road closures will be in effect along the marathon route.

The Chonburi Provincial Police have issued formal traffic orders, allowing officers to enforce strict road-use regulations throughout the event for the safety of both motorists and participants.

Pattaya City apologizes in advance for any inconvenience caused by these measures and urges residents and tourists to avoid the affected areas during race days. If any changes to the road closure times or routes are necessary, updates will be made immediately through the city’s official channels to help the public plan their travel accordingly. Certain roads will remain closed until around 11:00 AM.

City boosts medical teams, enforces strict traffic rules to ensure safety during major sporting event.
