Thailand launches ‘MOT WATCH’, smart AI keeps online shopping safe

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Ministry of Industry has introduced MOT WATCH, an intelligent AI system that acts as a digital watchdog for online marketplaces. This automated platform continuously scans e-commerce sites to identify illegal and substandard products threatening consumer safety.

In just five months, the system has flagged 98,956 product listings, focusing on high-risk items such as food-contact plastics, children’s toys, and electrical appliances that lack proper safety certifications. These products pose serious risks to consumers while undermining legitimate Thai businesses.

The AI-powered solution addresses previous monitoring limitations without requiring additional government budget. By leveraging technology instead of expanding personnel, Thailand has created an efficient, cost-effective approach to regulatory oversight.

MOT WATCH represents a permanent shift toward proactive consumer protection, establishing Thailand as a country that refuses to become a dumping ground for unsafe products.

This innovative system promises a safer, fairer digital marketplace where quality standards are maintained and consumers can shop with confidence. (PRD)
