BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed governors of seven provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border to urgently inspect the number and condition of bomb shelter pits in their areas to ensure public safety.
The directive follows Anutin’s recent visit on June 8 to Nam Yuen District in Ubon Ratchathani Province, where he monitored preparedness and encouraged officials and locals near the Cambodian border.
The Ministry has coordinated with governors of Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces to conduct thorough surveys. These surveys must report on how many shelter pits are usable, how many need repair, and the estimated budget required for maintenance or new construction. The findings must be submitted to the Ministry of Interior by June 10.
This move aims to strengthen safety measures and readiness for any future emergencies affecting the border regions. (TNA)
