BANGKOK, Thailand – In celebration of Her Majesty Queen Suthida’s birthday on June 3, the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) will illuminate key bridges across the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok and surrounding provinces. The lighting display is a gesture of loyalty and gratitude to Her Majesty, as well as a way to enhance the festive atmosphere along the riverfront during the royal celebration.

The decorative lighting will be featured on several major bridges including the Maha Jesada Bodindra Bridge, Krung Thon (Sang Hi) Bridge, Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge, Phra Pok Klao Bridge, King Taksin the Great Bridge, and both Bhumibol 1 and Bhumibol 2 Bridges.

The lights will be turned on from June 2 to 4, between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM. On June 3—the Queen’s actual birthday—the lighting hours will be extended to midnight, running from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Aside from expressing loyalty to the monarchy, the initiative also aims to boost riverside tourism. Locals and visitors are invited to enjoy scenic nighttime boat rides along the Chao Phraya River, with views of the illuminated bridges highlighting the cultural charm and vibrant life along the waterway.
