Prime Minister Paetongtarn reassures the public that the U.S. court’s decision limiting Trump-era tariff powers will not derail Thailand’s ongoing trade negotiation efforts.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra affirmed that a recent U.S. federal court decision blocking former President Donald Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose global tariffs will not derail Thailand’s ongoing trade talks with the United States.

Speaking to the press, the Prime Minister said her government remains committed to progressing with the negotiations and continues preparations while awaiting a formal meeting date from Washington. “We cannot come to a complete halt. We must keep preparing,” she stated.

Paetongtarn added that during her recent visit to Malaysia for a regional meeting, many ASEAN leaders echoed Thailand’s experience, saying their countries are also waiting for U.S. responses after submitting trade documentation. “We’re not lagging behind. We’re still within the 90-day consultation window,” she said.

She also clarified that informal communications between Thai and U.S. teams are ongoing and that the working-level discussions have been positive. Addressing rumors, Paetongtarn firmly denied being banned from entering the United States, saying, “There is no issue with my visa. Please rest assured.” (TNA)
