
BANGKOK, Thailand – Police have arrested a 23-year-old Indian national after he allegedly used a handgun to rob a currency exchange shop in the Surawong area of Bang Rak, making off with approximately 100,000 baht.
The robbery took place on May 26, prompting the victim to file a report at Bang Rak Police Station. Police investigations quickly identified the suspect as Mr. Aman, who reportedly carried out multiple robbery attempts across the Phayathai, Yannawa, and Bang Rak areas using a motorcycle and firearm.
According to Pol. Maj. Gen. Chotiwat Luangwilai, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division, Aman successfully robbed one exchange shop in Bang Rak.
After reviewing CCTV footage, officers tracked him to his residence. Upon searching the premises, police discovered clothing matching what he wore during the robbery, a motorcycle believed to be used in the crime, and about 50,000 baht in cash. While Aman initially denied involvement, he later claimed the cash was his personal savings.
