BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai gold prices experienced significant volatility, adjusting 18 times throughout the day before closing 550 baht higher on April 1. During the day, gold prices reached a new record high, with gold bars selling at 50,700 baht per baht-weight and gold ornaments at 51,500 baht per baht-weight.
The Gold Traders Association reported that by market close, gold bars were selling at 50,600 baht, while gold ornaments were at 51,400 baht per baht-weight. However, fluctuations throughout the day saw gold hitting its highest-ever price in Thailand before slightly retreating.
Investors continue to purchase gold as a safe-haven asset amid concerns over global trade tensions, particularly regarding U.S. tariffs under former President Donald Trump’s administration, which have fueled fears of a trade war, economic slowdown, and rising inflation.
