BANGKOK, 10 January 2013 The Industry Ministry will find solutions to break the impact of the 300-baht minimum wage for SME businesses across the country.

Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk said he has instructed Permanent Secretary for Industry Witoon Simachokedee to compile information on impacts of the new wage rise from SME owners for evaluation. Preliminary evaluation is expected to be presented to him tomorrow and will be used in the planning of more cushion measures.

Mr. Prasert reportedly said that the impact of the ฿300 daily wage on the industrial sector would become apparent in the next few months.

As for solutions, the Minister said he was thinking of reviving the industrial clinic scheme, which used to help businesses save their spending by as much as 10% in the past. The scheme should help the industrial sector lower the cost pending an introduction of further cushion measures.
