Arson suspected as fire guts Plutaluang Golf Club

Damage assessed at 100mn baht

A fire at the Plutaluang Golf Course clubhouse destroyed 85 golf carts along with equipment and offices last Friday morning. Navy guards reported the fire shortly after midnight. The smell of fuel was reported to be rife at the conflagration.

Woo! What a race … see those buffaloes go

Pattaya’s first buffalo races took place last weekend, when 77 buffaloes and their joggers performed their best moves on the huge field opposite the fishing park on Pattaya Third Road.

Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn had set aside 2.5 million baht for the event but only 200,000 baht was spent. Nakorn Amornchaikit, the landowner, happily lent his land for the racing without charge.

The Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya welcomed Kelly Thanapat, host of the popular local TV show, “The Gentleman”. The actor was recently on-location to shoot a segment for the show at the hotel’s popular Beach Foam-X Party with actress Wannasa Thongviset.

Running Club’s Dzikowski first over line

Raymond Dzikowski from the Pattaya Running Club was the first to cross the finish line in the 10km Pattaya Walk-Run event held last Friday afternoon. He was presented with the Prime Minister’s Trophy at the prize giving ceremonies later that evening.

The Walk-Run Meditation was held in unison with 10 other provinces around Thailand as part of the celebrations denoting the beginning of Buddhist Lent.
