Claim the agreement will destroy the lives of average Thais

Before leaving, the protesters performed a “Sabb Chang” ceremony on the effigy of George Bush to place a curse on the spirit and send it away. This entails pouring salt and chili over it, chanting around it, then burning it.

Twenty-five man fishing crew rescued from burning vessel

More drama on the high seas

Twenty-five crewmembers were rescued from the 23-meter fishing vessel “Chok Kosit 4” last week when the vessel caught fire 28 nautical miles from Koh Chang in Trat province.

Fishing boats in the area were first on the scene and attempted to douse the blaze with seawater jettisoned through their onboard pumps, but this proved unsuccessful. Crewmembers allegedly stayed onboard the Chok Kosit 4, attempting to control the blaze until Navy units arrived on the scene.

Swedish group helps get you to hospital (in time)

Two Swedish doctors, who are specialists in ‘pre-hospital’ treatment, visited Pattaya as part of a fact-finding mission sponsored by the Swedish government. Their mission was to see the preparedness, or otherwise, of the local medical facilities and the local Emergency Medical Services. The Swedish fact-finding group also included representatives from the Swedish Embassy and Connector Asia, a company that works in the Sweden-Thailand interface.

A new record Mussels eating was broken in Patrick’s Belgian Restaurant by Marc Serneels and Philippe Coorevits, both Belgian, who each consumed 6 kgs of the delicacy in less than 1 hour. Both went home with a bottle of Patrick’s finest red wine.
