Bangkok Pattaya Hospital receives special gifts from the Pattaya Mail for their 12th anniversary

The Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, now in its twelfth year of operation, received a special gift from the offices of the Pattaya Mail Publishing Company. Two hundred copies of the Pattaya Mail Dining Out guide were handed over to the hospital’s International Department to be placed in hospital rooms.

(L to R) Tony Malhotra presented 200 copies of the Dining Out Guide to Reina Rances, Monica Rottman and Neil Maniquiz at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

The gift is not only to give patients something else to do to help make their time easier by learning about the city’s vast number of restaurants and dining venues, but it also coincides with the 1st anniversary of the Pattaya Blatt, the German language newspaper, and the 10th anniversary of the Pattaya Mail.

The Dining Out guides will add to the ever-increasing services provided by the hospital for its patients, and the Pattaya Mail was very happy to provide this extra benefit.

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to receive Prime Minister’s Export Award

As another feather in its cap, the local Bangkok Pattaya Hospital is to be recognized for its services to Thailand in ‘exporting’ its facilities to the world.

The service carried out by the private hospitals in Thailand in offering skilled medical care has been noted before, but this is the first time that the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital has been fully recognized and honoured with the Prime Minister’s Export Award.

The ceremony to reward the hospital will be held at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok, Napalai Ballroom, on August 20th.

Amor dinner, latest fundraiser for PGF

Richard from Amor, a member of the Pattaya Gay Festival committee, hosted the latest dinner at his restaurant, AMOR, in Pattayaland Soi 3 recently. After a pleasant meal the ever-effervescent Jim Lumsden, with the help of some of the staff from BoyzBoyzBoyz, encouraged the diners to lighten their wallets a little more and by the end of the

evening a total of just over 86,000 had been raised towards the PGF funds helping support the work of Dr Philippe and Heartt 2000. The Committee would like to thank all who came to the meal and those businesses who gave so generously in providing prizes for the lucky draw.

Pattaya boasts of yet more university graduates

Pattaya has come of age. The children of our early settlers are now coming into their own. These children are the future of Pattaya, ushering in a new age of knowledge and development. We are proud of you and continue to support you and other children to be diligent in their studies and become the guiding forces of the new Pattaya.

This week we are proud to present two of our newest graduates. Sunee Sakgiraphong received her BSc in Business Administration and Arunee Singsirikul received her BSc in Computer Science from Mahidol University International College. Sunee writes about her experiences in college.

“I’m Sunee Sakgiraphong, I have just graduated from Mahidol University International College. I had taken up business study as my major subject and marketing as my minor. When I joined Mahidol, I was just a little girl who didn’t know much about life and it was quite scary and exciting at the same time because at (grade) school, we were pampered and spoon-fed all the time, but here life was just a different ballgame. You had to be on your own as well as responsible for all the steps you choose to take. Mahidol gave me a platform to become tough and face all kinds of situations and I also got the opportunity to participate in many activities, made loads of friends and from then on, that little girl has turned out to be a smart young woman.

“Four years have passed by real soon and now all I wish is that I could turn back the clock because college life is the best time of one’s life and every minute spent in that place will be cherished.

“I thank my loving parents for having given me the opportunity to finish my studies. I will try to use my knowledge to help my community where I live and further help to teach other children in getting a good education.”

Sophon cable introduces Asian Pacific channel

A contract for the new Asian Pacific program channel was recently co-signed by John Do Herdi from the Australian ABC Broadcasting Corporation and Boonsong Nimsritrakul, president of the Cable TV Association of Thailand.

Many guests, including Chanyut Hengtrakul, advisor to the minister of Sports and Tourism and advisor to the president of the cable TV association of Thailand, attended the event.

The new channel will bring various forms of entertainment including sports, documentaries, features, and educational programs.

Boonsong said that this will add to the already good programs provided by the Sophon Cable TV Company. The viewers will benefit more from receiving additional international programs at the same reasonable cost.

“Say Cheese!” Celebrating Swiss National Day, Amari Orchid Resort displayed an under the stars buffet for all guests to feast upon, hosted by Executive Assistant Managers Orapin Musiknavabutra and Michael Goetz (right) at left are Khun Watana and Executive Chef Flemming Schulthess.

Many guests gathered around for the exhibit of fresh potatoes smothered by hot Raclette cheese with paprika, kummels and baby pickles; a true Swiss culinary honor. While dining, Swiss flags waved, live music played and historical snow-packed televised mountains chilled the warm night air. Festive, many danced until the cheese was rolled away while others sipped chilled wine cheering the night on.

On August 1, 1291, three Alpine cantons swore the oath of confederation, an act that later came to be regarded as the foundation of Switzerland. Following this, the government decided in 1891 to declare the day Switzerland’s national day.

Happy National Swiss Day to all from the management and staff of the Amari Orchid Resort in Pattaya. Holey Swiss cheese! Sustain the ‘wit’ in Switzerland and keep your shape for next years delicious feast.
