Army of tuk-tuks converge on Pattaya
Raise 1 million baht for charity

After a long ride from Bangkok, tuk-tuks line up in formation on Beach Road in front of the Royal Garden Resort

A veritable army of tuk-tuks descended on Pattaya on May 27th as part of the “Tuk-Tuk Rally 2000” sponsored by Bartercard. The event raised 1 million baht for charity whilst celebrating Bartercard’s 2nd anniversary in Thailand.

The inaugural “Great Tuk-Tuk Rally 2000” started at 10:00 a.m. when 50 tuk-tuks departed the Marriott Riverside Hotel in Bangkok and headed for Sukhumvit Highway, racing down the 100+ kilometer stretch of road towards the Royal Garden Resort and Plaza in Pattaya where the rally ended.

A reception was prepared for the end of the Tuk-Tuk Rally at 1.00 p.m. with Pattaya Mayor Pairat Suttithamrongsawat welcoming Graham Brain, Manager of the Bartercard Board of Directors in Thailand, who presented a one million baht donation to the Bangkok South Rotary Club. The donation will go towards supporting the Ratanakosin University educational assistance programs for students from low-income families.
