BANGKOK, Apr 23 – Thai Airways International (THAI) will provide 60 chartered Airbus 330-300 for Thai Muslims wanting to go on the Hajj pilgrimage to the Saudi Arabian spiritual centre of Mecca from September 29-November 28.

Dulyapong Sukhanusart, vice president of the airline’s Alliance and Commercial Development Department said the organised flights will be able to smoothly support 9,000 passengers, 73.5 per cent higher than last year.

He said THAI will allow 93 agents certified by the Department of Religious Affairs to have access to its reservation system from May 1.

However, ticket fees this year will be raised 1-3 per cent due to higher production costs and fuel prices.

Mr Dulyapong said that if the number of passengers is higher than expected, THAI is ready to consider providing more flights. There are currently some 20,000 passengers having registered to book their tickets to Mecca.
