TAT Newsroom celebrates Thai New Year (Songkran) with upcoming contest

Bangkok, 8 April, 2014 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Newsroom is inviting professional and amateur writers, photographers and videographers to capture the spirit of various aspects of Thailand and enter a fun and creative contest, which is scheduled to be launched in May 2014.

Apart from capturing the spirit of the Thai New Year (Songkran) holiday season, anyone interested in taking part in the TAT Newsroom Contest 2014 is also encouraged to capture the reasons why Thailand is such a welcoming and diverse tourist destination. Thailand offers a wide variety of tourist attractions, ranging from unique culture, abundant natural beauty (ranging from beaches to mountains and waterfalls to seas and rivers) and remarkable variety of activities including soft-adventure, spa, shopping and medical tourism.

The TAT Newsroom Contest 2014 is aimed at encouraging international and local tourists alike to share their most memorable moments in the kingdom, through travel feature articles, photographs and videos. Entrants will get the chance to win cash prizes worth 225,000 Baht in total.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “This competition allows tourists to record their memorable experiences in Thailand for other people to enjoy, and what’s more, they get the chance to win a reward and spread their amazing moments and memories in the kingdom across the globe. This will definitely send out a direct message to international travellers that Thailand is a welcoming and diverse tourist destination.”

Guidelines for the submission of travel feature writing articles, photographs and videos as well as the contest’s terms and conditions will become available in May 2014. There will be a submission period of 60 days, allowing for many people to join the competition and share their amazing experiences in Thailand.

The best entries will be showcased on the TAT Newsroom website (www.tatnews.org) and through its social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter and Google+. The winners, comprising First Prize, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up will each receive a cash reward, subject to terms and conditions.
