TAT lists seven top locations to celebrate New Year countdown 2015 in Thailand

Bangkok, 11 December, 2014 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will be organising the New Year countdown 2015 celebration in seven major tourist destinations up and down the country – Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai (Mae Sai), Chon Buri (Pattaya), Songkhla (Hat Yai), Phuket and Khon Kaen – from 25 December, 2014 to 1 January, 2015.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “TAT’s New Year countdown 2015 celebration at these seven locations are set to offer a memorable experience for tourists and visitors to mark the end of the old year and the beginning of the new. We have scheduled a range of modern tradition of the New Year countdown alongside unique Thai cultural activities. This is a perfect prelude to our ‘2015 Discover Thainess’ campaign that emphasises the distinctive character of Thailand as a fun and hospitable tourist destination.”

Bangkok Countdown 2014

TAT’s New Year countdown 2015 will be held at seven top tourist destinations; each promises a unique theme and a host of fun-filled activities, as well as a memorable fireworks display.

Bangkok Countdown 2015 will take place at the city’s Ploenchit, Ratchaprasong and Pathumwan Intersections from 31 December, 2014 to 1 January, 2015 with dazzling displays of fireworks, concerts and stage entertainment. The New Year countdown will be held in front of the CentralWorld complex and Amarin Plaza. Ratchaprasong is also known as a wonderland of lights and colourful decorations during the festival season.

Chiang Mai Countdown Festival 2015 is to be held at the Tha Pae Gate and down the entire stretch of Tha Pae Road from 25 to 31 December, 2014. Highlights are mini-concerts, stage entertainment and cultural performances, and the New Year countdown fireworks spectacular.

Khon Kaen Countdown 2014

Three Nations Countdown 2015 in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai will be organised at the Thailand-Myanmar border crossing on the Thai side from 31 December, 2014 to 1 January, 2015. Activities will include music performances, stage entertainment that showcases the culture of three nations – Thailand, Lao PDR and Myanmar – and the New Year countdown with a spectacular fireworks display.

Pattaya Countdown 2015 at the Bali Hai Pier on the southernmost part of Pattaya Beach from 25 to 31 December, 2014 promises seven days of fun-filled events with concerts by famous Thai and international musicians and bands before the seaside city’s skies are lit up with the spectacular countdown fireworks display.

Night Paradise Hat Yai and Countdown 2015 will be organised on four key roads – Niphat Uthit 3, Sanehanusorn, Thammanoonvithi and Chee Uthit – and in front of the Lee Gardens Plaza, as well as at the Gong Kong Villa Market in Songkhla’s Hat Yai city on 31 December, 2014. The one-day celebration will feature concerts by big name Thai singers and bands, and celebrities, and ending with a spectacular fireworks display to mark the New Year.

Colourful Phuket Countdown 2015 will be held at the Sanam Chai Field opposite the Phuket Provincial Hall, from 29 to 31 December, 2014 with concerts and stage entertainment, floral and light decorations, and the countdown fireworks display.

Khon Kaen Rock Party Countdown 2015 will take place from 25 to 31 December, 2014 on Srichan Road by the city’s gate. Highlights will include the ‘Magic Light of Happiness” decorative garden and concerts by famous Thai rock singers and bands. As the clocks strike 12, Khon Kaen’s skies will be lit up with a spectacular display of 2015 fireworks. In addition, a Buddhist merit-making activity will be held on 1 January, 2015.
