Northern tourism gets into full swing

PHITSANULOK, Oct 22 – Thailand’s northern tourism this year is more bouyant than ever, thanks to the ongoing and upcoming cold breezes enlivening the region.

 

Wasan Phupichit, chief of Thung Salaeng Luang National Park in Phitsanulok province, said tourists have begun streaming to the national park for its attractive descending temperature, now at around 12 degrees Celsius.

Thung Salaeng Luang National Park has over 700,000 rai of land, covering three districts of Phitsanulok province and two districts of Petchabun.

Travellers are advised to book their accommodation online on the park’s website, for there are just a limited number of rooms available and tents only for 500 persons are provided.

Meanwhile, Chiang Rai Municipality Mayor Wanchai Chongsuttanamanee announced the province’s winter tourism where related promotions and activities are planned.

The activities include the Loy Krathong festival on Nov 15-18 at at Suan Tung Lae Khom Chiang Rai Park, where performances from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and China are to be held, and the 10th Chiang Rai Flower Fair on Dec 20-Jan 20 also at the same park.

Some 500,000 tourists are expected to visit Chiang Rai during the winter period.
