The majority of tourists over the July 15-20 Asalaha Bucha-Khao Phansa holidays were Thais from nearby provinces. They trekked up the hill to get the view of Pattaya Bay.

They also made wishes for good fortune of at the statue of Prince Apakorn Kiartivongse Chumphon Khet Udomsak, known as the father of the Thai navy.

Prabaht Temple, only a couple hundred meters away from the viewpoint, also was packed with Thai and foreign tourists. Most were seen partaking in merit-making activities and offering ‘sangatan’ (an orange bucket full of goods used in the temple).

A great amount of people also gave cash donations to the boxes available, which will be for public works of the temple and renovations.
