Bueng Kan attractions ranked in TAT tourism calendar

BUENG KAN, 14 November 2014 –  Tourism attractions in Bueng Kan province have been ranked on the top-ten list in the tourism calendar of the Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT), said the provincial governor. 

According to the Governor of Bueng Kan province Pongsak Preechawit, tourism attractions in Bueng Kan have been included on the top-ten list in the tourism calendar by the TAT, thanks to the province’s natural diversity, the Mekong river, and Buddhist tourism.

Popular tourist attractions in the province include the Wat Pho Tok, the 7 color waterfall, and the Wat Ahong Silawas. Many tourists also decide to come to the province to visit an important Buddhist monk. These attractions draw over a hundred thousand tourists every year.

Bueng Kan is the newest province in Thailand, separated from Nong Khai province since 2011. The province has the population of 416,000 people in 115 villages. The main occupation is in the agricultural sector.

People in the province also receive extra income by selling OTOP products to tourists. The more tourists arriving in Bueng Kan means additional income generated to the province.
