AOT and CAPA of Australia will co-host an Airports Congress of Asia in Bangkok

BANGKOK, June 2015 – Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT), Ministry of Transport, has accepted an invitation from Australian-based CAPA Centre for Aviation, to co-host the LCC Airports Congress Asia, Bangkok 2015 in September, hoping to develop the fast-growing Low Cost Carrier (LCC) business and airport management in Thailand.

AOT President Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said the number of passengers using low cost carriers at the six airports of the AOT increased by 25 per cent annually during 2010-2014. Don Muang International Airport is a leading hub where the amount of LCCs rose by 30 per cent.

The LCC Airports Congress Asia, Bangkok 2015 is expected to increase understanding in the distinct needs and challenges of the LCC sector. The country will benefit from the event in terms of the development of air transportation and the connection building in line with the AOT’s Efficiency Orientation (Aero Business) strategic policy. It can also learn and share experiences in the business with international counterpart nations.

At the event, participants can attend seminars on a wide range of topics such as Efforts in Response to the Needs and Requirements of Short and Long-Haul LCCs, LCC Airport Experiences in Asia, the ASEAN Liberalization Update as well as the Asian Aviation Infrastructure Challenge.
