Fresh seafood was on the grill and Kwang AB Normal on stage as Pattaya opened the 9th Walk & Eat Naklua.

Mayor Anan Charoenchasri opened the winter market Jan. 6 on the main stage in front of the Government Saving Bank. He was joined by tourism promotion chief, Ornwara Korapin, who gave the opening remarks, and top local government, tourism and cultural officials.

The event based at the Old Naklua Market runs every Saturday and Sunday through Feb. 25 from 5-10 p.m.

Now in its ninth year, the “walking street’ market aims to promote Naklua as a tourism destination in its own right by showcasing the community’s heritage as a traditional fishing village.

Pop star Kwang was complemented by performances of traditional Thai music and arts. Meanwhile, throngs of shoppers perused aisles of locally made goods and fresh seafood.
