YALA, 9 Jan 2015 – Yala Province yesterday held an activity that brought together local Islamic and Buddhist leaders, in its bids to achieve peace.

The meeting, which was being held at the Office of Local Administration in Na-tham Sub-district in Muang Yala, was also attended by government employees, military & police officers, community leaders and locals.

Peace building dominated the discussion yesterday. Muslims and Buddhists brainstormed ideas together to seek ways to ease the tension in the area without discrimination against one another, paving ways to peace talks and ultimately eliminate the southern violence.

The talks are one of the many efforts of the Government to address the ongoing violence in the South.
