Uthai Thani people pay respects to King Naresuan

UTHAI THANI 10 June 2014  — The people of Uthai Thani have paid their respects to the late King Naresuan in remembrance of his great achievement in winning back the old Kingdom of Ayutthaya from the ancient Burmese.

Local police commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Chadchawan Wachirapaneekul presided over the commemoration ceremony along with army personnel, local police, merchants and many of the general public.

The ceremonial occasion was conceived to pay respects to the late King Naresuan in recognition of his conquest of the Burmese in taking back the then fallen Autthaya Kindom. The center piece of the ceremony was a statue of King Naresuan made by the Fine Arts Institute.

Flowers and prayers were presented along side the double life sized statue of King Naresuan. After the ceremony at Uthai Thani province, the statue is to be conveyed to nine other provinces in order that people in those regions can pay their respects and express their gratitude to the King.

The final destination of the statue is reported to be Phisanulok province. There, the elegant figure will stand tall over the city as a symbol of the unity of all Thais
