BANGKOK, 21 November 2013 The United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) has announced a temporary halt to its rally in Bangkok, but said it will re-group for another gathering on November 24.

After the Constitutional Court ruled the charter amendment section on Senate recruitment to be unconstitutional, the UDD leaders on Wednesday took the Court to task and declared the group would not accept the Constitutional Court’s interference in the affairs of the legislative and executive branches. The group proclaimed that the power to amend the charter belonged solely to Parliament. It also called on the government and Parliament to proceed with amending the charter.

The UDD leaders, who were speaking on stage at Ratchamangkhala Stadium in Bangkok, announced the group would reconvene on November 24.

On Wednesday, leaders of the Democrat Party-led protest at Democracy Monument in Bangkok continued to berate the government on stage, urging the government to resign. The leaders also called for supporters to gather at its rally site on November 24, promising that all troubles will come to an end on November 30.
