Two men arrested in Bangkok for possessing military-grade weapons

BANGKOK, 25 June 2014,  -The military and police in Bangkok have arrested 2 men for possession of military-grade weapons; in line with the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s drive to rid the nation of destructive weapons.

M16 Automatic rifles, and rounds of ammunition were found in the possession of the two men, Mr. Nuttapol Pansuwan, 23, and Mr. Kittikorn Churoj, 42, officials said, adding that the weapons were discovered in a commercial building in Soi Prannok 7, in Bangchanglor Sub-district of Bangkoknoi District.

During the interrogation, the two suspects admitted owning the firearms but said they had never used the weapons; an investigation is now underway to verify the claim. Authorities have charged them with having unregistered firearms in possession.
