TRAT, 16 August 2015 – The provincial governor of Trat has presided over a ceremony of handing out land use permits to landless villagers.

The distribution of temporary land use permits is part of the government’s poverty eradication policy. Debt-ridden and landless farmers are the government’s priority group.

Recipients of land use permits have been selected by Trat provincial Land Office. The allotted plots, each covering 29 rai, are state property allowed for public use.

Officials have surveyed the land and dug a pond for community consumption before issuing the permits. The program has benefited 37 households.
