Transport Minister to follow up with problems in Airport Link system

BANGKOK, 18 August 2011 – Transport Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat is scheduled to inspect the operation of the Airport Rail Link tomorrow in a bid to take all details into account when setting a budget framework. 

ACM Sukumpol is scheduled to meet the State Railway of Thailand and related agencies tomorrow to discuss service problems of the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link. On the same day, the Minister will also go on-site to examine the Airport Link services from Makkasan Station to Suvarnabhumi Airport as well as the check-in services at Makkasan in an effort to gather all information necessary for solving any glitches.

The Transport Minister has already called a meeting with the heads of all six agencies under the Ministry’s supervision, which comprise the Department of Land Transport, the Department of Civil Aviation, the Marine Department, the Department of Highways, the Department of Rural Roads and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, and followed up with progress in their current projects.

In terms of the Transport Ministry’s budget framework for the year 2012, ACM Sukumpol said it had been tentatively set at 95 billion THB for state agencies and 37.5 billion THB for state enterprises, which were higher than last year. However, he noted that the numbers were still subject to alterations in accordance with the Government’s policy.
