Trang governor urges officials to help people understand what martial law means

TRANG, 22 May 2014 – Trang Governor Somsak Parisuttho Hemthanon presided over a meeting today to explain the policies and guidelines for civil servants now that martial law has been imposed.

Army Chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, the newly assumed director of Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC), convened with all provincial governors on Tuesday to acknowledge the new policies in place during the imposition of the martial law.

The purpose of the martial law is to restore order after the recent escalating violence. The POMC says that the media should not select any side and should not distort any information or causes misunderstandings in society, which is hoped to eventually bring back reconciliation.

All relevant government agency chiefs are being urged to help people understand the intention of this martial law and to let them know they can continue living normally.
