Three soldiers killed in Narathiwat bomb blast

NARATHIWAT, April 22 – Three soldiers were killed and six others were wounded in a bomb explosion at a marine base today in this southern border province.

The bomb was found near a bridge in Bacho district and defused before being collected for further examination inside the base of Narathiwat Marine Task Force 32.

The remote-controlled bomb was built into a gas cylinder, weighing around 25 kilogrammes.

However, the bomb short-circuited and exploded, killing two soldiers and wounding eight others.

One of the injured was later pronounced dead at hospital.

Among those killed were Lt. JG. Chaisit Techasawangwong, Chief Petty Officer First Class Tassanai Chomputaweep and Petty Officer First Class Rewat Kongnak.
