The Sultan of Brunei Darussalam to make official visit to Thailand during 29 Jun – 2 Jul

BANGKOK, 23 June 2012  – The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is set to make an official visit to Thailand later this month.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’Izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to visit Thailand as guest of of the Royal Thai Government during June 29th and July 2nd, in response to an invitation extended by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra during her trip to Brunei last September.

His Majesty, who was crowned the 29th Sultan on August 1, 1968, is now the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Finance of Brunei.

His Majesty will have an audience with HM King Bhumibol at the Grand Palace on June 30th before attending an official welcome ceremony at Government House, hosted by the Thai government.

His Majesty will then have a meeting with PM Yingluck on various issues, including the cooperation on agriculture, education and halal food, which will be followed by a dinner reception at the Santi Matri Building, Government House.

The upcoming visit by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’Izzaddin Waddaulah reflects the importance of strong relations between Brunei and Thailand, and opens more doors to other future collaborations for the good of both Southeast Asian nations.
