Thailand hosts JTC meeting with Vietnam until Wednesday

BANGKOK, 20 July 2015 – Thailand is hosting the second meeting of the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) from Monday to Wednesday, which is aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment. 

Thailand and Vietnam’s Ministries of Commerce will attend the meeting, which will discuss cooperation on rice and rubber trade, information exchange, and logistics services. The Kingdom will also persuade Vietnam to join the International Rubber Consortium Ltd (IRCo) during the meeting.

Both countries hope to expand bilateral trade to $20 billion over the next five years. Current trade volume as of last year is worth $10 billion.

Vietnam is Thailand’s fourth-largest trade partner in ASEAN and the 11th-largest globally. Key exports include finished oil, plastic pellets, cars and car parts, rubber products, and fresh and processed fruits.
