Thailand aiding Malaysia locate missing flight MH370

BANGKOK, Mar 20 – Malaysia has sought assistance from Thailand in the search-and-rescue operation for the missing Malaysian Airlines (MAS) flight MH370, according to a Thai Cabinet member.

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said Malaysia asked for satellite data on the northern corridor at 0011UTC on March 8.

Thailand was also asked to conduct a land, sea, an air search-and-rescue operation and inform the neighbouring country on latest search developments, he said, adding that Malaysia asked Thailand to permit air and sea rescue teams from various countries to enter Thai territory if necessary.

He said Malaysia was informed of Thailand’s cooperation and related Thai government agencies were instructed to assist accordingly.
